  • The average adult brain weighs three pounds (1.4 kg). That's about as much as a bag of onions, a pair of boots, or a two-slice toaster.
  • A newborn baby’s brain grows 1 percent larger each day until the infant’s about three months old.
  • The human brain is more than three times as big as the brains of other mammals of similar size.
  • By the time you turn nine years old, your brain will be around 95 percent of the size of a grownup’s brain, yet you still can’t drive a car.
  • While your brain only makes up about 2 percent of your body weight, it uses 20% of your daily energy supply. That’s a lot of energy spent sending and receiving billions of messages in a single day!
  • The brain can store as much information as one million hours of TV shows!
  • The human brain is as big as the whole internet! While your brain might have the storage capacity to hold the entire internet, it’s limited by how quickly it can store facts and memories.
